Swedana is a classical physician-supervised Ayurvedic sudation therapy in which therapeutic heat is administered to induce controlled sweating using medicated steam or other classical methods. Commonly performed after Abhyanga, Swedana helps relieve stiffness, reduce pain, improve circulation, and facilitate the mobilization of aggravated Doshas prior to Panchakarma procedures. It is indicated in selected musculoskeletal, neurological, and Vata-Kapha predominant disorders.
